Cornerstone Finance Group is proud to become the main jersey sponsor of the iconic invitational rugby union side, Crawshays Welsh RFC.

The design integrates the club’s commitment to a “Corinthian rugby spirit” since it was established in 1922 – embossed in the shirt collar – and the names of 23 rugby playing countries the club has visited, which are sublimated in the shirt number.

The inside hem of each shirt includes a nod to the club’s ethos of giving young players the chance to showcase their talent at a representative level when they would otherwise be unable to do so due to lack of selection opportunities or other commitments.

Former Wales international Jamie Ringer, who has played for Crawshays, is a Business Development Director with Cornerstone and presented one of the jerseys to Richard Brice, Chairman of Crawshays Welsh RFC.

Richard said:

“Crawshays are extremely appreciative for the incredible support of Cornerstone Finance Group which has given us the opportunity to produce a unique set of jerseys that reflect the history of the club.

“It was wonderful that former Newport RFC player Jamie Ringer was around to present the jerseys to me and our Captain Matthew Jacobs at the fixture at Rodney Parade Newport recently. On a special night to celebrate Newport RFC’s 150th Anniversary, it meant that we were able to also celebrate the unique generosity of Cornerstone, linking it with our own unique Crawshays heritage.”

Crawshays Welsh RFC was founded in 1922 by Captain Geoffrey Crawshay. It exists to create openings for young players to showcase their rugby skills at a representative level when they may have been unable to do so due to other commitments or lack of selection opportunities.

Haydn Thomas, our CEO, said:

“Crawshays Welsh RFC does an incredible job of encouraging young talent as well as doing a lot of charitable work. Their ethos of supporting promising talent and offering them opportunities is something that resonates with us at Cornerstone, and we are thrilled to be able to support them.

“We are also immensely proud of our connection with Crawshays through Jamie, and we also hope to see another Crawshays cap from within our ranks as Jake Thomas, a Bridgend Ravens RFC player who is Commercial Support Officer with Cornerstone Commercial Finance, is a real emerging talent. We very much hope to see Jake in one of the Crawshays jerseys before too long.”
