Running your own advising business can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be isolating.
While advisers spend their days helping clients navigate important life decisions, there isn’t always the same opportunity to connect with people who understand the challenges that come with running an advice business. Whether it’s dealing with regulation, managing growth, or simply having someone to share ideas with, those peer-to-peer conversations can be invaluable.
At Cornerstone Network, we believe that being part of a network should mean more than access to systems and support. It should also mean being part of a community.
The Launch of Women in Cornerstone
That thinking was behind the launch of Women in Cornerstone, a new initiative designed to bring together women from across our network.
The first event gave advisers the opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of business and spend time connecting with other women working in financial services. Alongside conversations and networking, attendees took part in a well-being and goal-setting workshop, giving them the space to reflect on their achievements and think about what they want to accomplish next.
As host and supporter of the event, Gareth Gale from LBG said:
“I was delighted to support and host the event. Events like this provide a valuable opportunity to share experiences, learn from different perspectives and celebrate the positive impact women are having across the financial services industry.”
We’d also like to thank Lloyds Banking Group for helping make the event possible.
Learning From Each Other
One of the biggest benefits of being part of a network is the opportunity to learn from advisers who have taken different paths and faced different challenges.
Across Cornerstone, there are plenty of examples of advisers building successful businesses in their own way. Some have chosen to develop specialist expertise to better support their clients, while others have entered the profession from completely different careers, bringing fresh perspectives and experiences with them. We’ve also welcomed firms at different stages of their growth, each with their own ambitions, challenges and goals.
There isn’t a single route to success in this industry, and that’s what makes sharing experiences so valuable. By learning from one another, advisers can gain new ideas, insights and confidence as they continue to develop their businesses.

More Than a Business Network
Financial services can be a demanding industry, and while commercial success is important, having a strong support network around you matters too.
Events like Women in Cornerstone are a reminder that some of the most valuable opportunities come from sharing experiences, exchanging ideas and building relationships with people who genuinely understand the industry.
Whether you’re new to advising or have been running a successful firm for years, there is always something to gain from being part of a community that wants to see you succeed.
Looking Ahead
As many advisers take time over the summer to think about what comes next for their business, it’s worth asking an important question:
Do you have the support around you that helps you grow, both professionally and personally?
